2) Prayer is not communicating with man
Whose prayer does God love to hear? Thos who pray with a humble, broken and contrite heart- only for God to hear
-Pslams 51:17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."
-Luke 18:10-14 The Pharisee's prayer vs the tax collector's prayer "...God , have mercy on me, a sinner" - God heard the tax collector's prayer
-Matthew 6:6 "...Then your Father, who sees twhat is done in secret, will reward you"
Why is prayer so important?
1) Prayer helps to build our relationship with God
-Mark 1:32-35
2) Prayer helps to keep us away from temptation
-Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak"
-1 Peter 5:8 "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour"
- James 4:8a "Come near to God and he will come near to you" -come to church, do quiet time, read the bible, pray...
3) Prayer helps to give us strength to face a new day
-Lamentations 3:22-23 "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness"
