20 Sept 2008 Sermon Notes Bringing to God our best Sacrifice
Spiritual truths on giving: 1) What satan gives to you, he will take it back from you 2) What God takes from you, He will give it back to you
Hebrews 7:27b "He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself"
When we come to church, what must we bring as sacrifices to offer to God?
1) Our bodies as living sacrifices Romans 12:1 - our living sacrifices must be the best
2) Our tithes and offerings Phillipians 4:18 "...they are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God"
Malachi 3:8-9, 10 - the israelites did not give their tithes and offerings unto God. This made God upset and angry
Leviticus 5:7,11 "7 If he cannot afford a lamb, he is to bring two doves or two young pigeons to the LORD as a penalty for his sin" "11 If, however, he cannot afford two doves or two young pigeons, he is to bring as an offering for his sin a tenth of an ephah of fine flour..." - no matter how poor we are, we still have to give our tithes and offerings to God
Mark 12:42a-44
3) Our praise and worship Hebrews 13:15 "...let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that confess His name"
How can we offer to God the best praise and worship?
1) Singing -Psalm 28:7 "...my heart leaps for joy and i will give thanks to Him in song" -Psalm 115:17 - Psalm 150:6 "let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD"
2) Clapping and shouting - Psalm 47:1 "Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy"
3) Lifting of hands -Psalm 134:2 "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD"
4) Dancing and play musical instruments -Psalm 149:3 "Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp"
5) Bow and kneel -Psalm 95:6 "...lelt us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;"
6) Banners -Psalm 20:5 "...lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests" - Zephaniah 3:17
