13 Sept 2008 Sermon Notes Giving the Best in Worship
Malachi 1:6-14
In our worship of God, why must we offer our best? 1) God demands our best 2) God deserves our best
1) Malachi 1:11 "My name will be great among the nations... my name will be great among the nations"
2) Malachi 1:14 "For I am a great king..."
* if we don't offer God our best, we are the ones who will lose out as we won't receive His blessings
3) Isaiah 40:12a "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?" - answer: God; God wants to show us that he is a great God
4) Isaiah 66:1a "...Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool."
5) Matthew 10:30 "And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered"
6) Psalms 147:4-5 "He determines the number of the starts and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit."
7) Malachi 1:13 "...when you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?..." - God will be very uspet when we find it a burden to worship God, and don't give Him our best
8) 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 14
9) Acts 13: 22b "David.. a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do." - we should folow David in this aspect, always giving God all respect and honour, and offering up our very best
10) Mark 14:3-6 "...She has done a beautiful thing to me" - Mary's action was an act of worship unto Jesus
