Sermon Notes
Bringing to God our best Sacrifice

Spiritual truths on giving:
1) What satan gives to you, he will take it back from you
2) What God takes from you, He will give it back to you

Hebrews 7:27b
"He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself"

When we come to church, what must we bring as sacrifices to offer to God?

1) Our bodies as living sacrifices
Romans 12:1
- our living sacrifices must be the best

2) Our tithes and offerings
Phillipians 4:18
"...they are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God"

Malachi 3:8-9, 10
- the israelites did not give their tithes and offerings unto God. This made God upset and angry

Leviticus 5:7,11
"7 If he cannot afford a lamb, he is to bring two doves or two young pigeons to the LORD as a penalty for his sin"
"11 If, however, he cannot afford two doves or two young pigeons, he is to bring as an offering for his sin a tenth of an ephah of fine flour..."
- no matter how poor we are, we still have to give our tithes and offerings to God

Mark 12:42a-44

3) Our praise and worship
Hebrews 13:15
"...let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that confess His name"

How can we offer to God the best praise and worship?

1) Singing
-Psalm 28:7
"...my heart leaps for joy and i will give thanks to Him in song"
-Psalm 115:17
- Psalm 150:6
"let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD"

2) Clapping and shouting
- Psalm 47:1
"Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy"

3) Lifting of hands
-Psalm 134:2
"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD"

4) Dancing and play musical instruments
-Psalm 149:3
"Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp"

5) Bow and kneel
-Psalm 95:6
"...lelt us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;"

6) Banners
-Psalm 20:5
"...lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests"
- Zephaniah 3:17

Sermon Notes
Giving the Best in Worship

Malachi 1:6-14

In our worship of God, why must we offer our best?
1) God demands our best
2) God deserves our best

1) Malachi 1:11
"My name will be great among the nations... my name will be great among the nations"

2) Malachi 1:14
"For I am a great king..."

* if we don't offer God our best, we are the ones who will lose out as we won't receive His blessings

3) Isaiah 40:12a
"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?"
- answer: God; God wants to show us that he is a great God

4) Isaiah 66:1a
"...Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool."

5) Matthew 10:30
"And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered"

6) Psalms 147:4-5
"He determines the number of the starts and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit."

7) Malachi 1:13
"...when you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?..."
- God will be very uspet when we find it a burden to worship God, and don't give Him our best

8) 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 14

9) Acts 13: 22b
"David.. a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do."
- we should folow David in this aspect, always giving God all respect and honour, and offering up our very best

10) Mark 14:3-6
"...She has done a beautiful thing to me"
- Mary's action was an act of worship unto Jesus

Martin Tang
Worshipper/Musician/Producer

Martin is husband to Patricia and father to Megan and Jesse, and he currently serves as a worship leader as well as heads the “Worship Ministry” in Hope Sanctuary Singapore.
Aside from leading worship in his home church, he has led and participated in many worship events in Singapore and the Asian region.
He also conducts “worship clinics” and continues to be a guest lecturer at the YWAM School Of Worship Singapore.

He is an accomplished musician/arranger/producer, having won the “Golden Melody Award” (Mandarin Music’s highest honor) for best arrangement for well known Asian artiste Stephanie Sun. He has also won the “merit” award for the “Tokyo Song Festival”, best foreign song award in the Philippines Music Awards and Best Arrangement Award MTV China.
His works can be heard on most of the top mandarin recording artiste albums, eg; F4 , Coco Lee, A*Mei, Wang Lee Hom.. etc
His arrangements can also be heard on Malay, Indonesian and Japanese record labels such as Pony Canyon , JVC…etc.

He has also recorded an “album” entitled “Tinman” in New York’s prestigious recording studio “The Power Station” and features some of the worlds finest musicians from USA and Briton.
The album received good reviews and even found it’s way to the radio playlists in Australia.

Apart from the “secular” productions Martin is also actively involved in the production of “Asian Gospel” albums, having worked on albums featuring popular “Asian” worship singers .

He continues his journey in pursuit of God as a worshipper in the hope that his life will encourage “others” in seeking the heart of the Father, through His beloved Son and with the empowerment of His Holy Spirit.
